Mac Mic Group secures buyer for land at Bath Road, Keynsham, Somerset
Mac Mic Group has signed a contract with Curo Enterprise to sell a 10.2ha (25.2) acre site for greenfield residential development at Bath Road, Keynsham, Somerset. The site was marketed by Davies and Way, based in Keynsham, and Mac Mic Group in late 2022.
In February 2023, Bath and North East Somerset Council granted outline planning permission for the construction of up to 213 new homes, of which 30% will be affordable, as well as a replacement sports pitch for the nearby primary school.
The acquisition by Bristol-based Curo Enterprise provides a continuation of the housing association’s earlier delivery of 56 homes on the nearby Hygge Park development.
The scheme also accommodates a number of public footpaths that cross the site and incorporates various green corridors through the site with open space to the east extending to Saltford.
The site is located on the eastern edge of Keynsham, mid-way between Bristol and Bath and is well-served by road and rail. Nearby local facilities include Wellsway School, IKB Academy and a Waitrose supermarket.
Nevin Holden, South West Regional Manager at Mactaggart & Mickel Group, said: “We have a long history as a land promotor and investor, with a reputation built on both community engagement and quality placemaking. On behalf of the land owners, we conducted an extensive stakeholder and community engagement programme prior to submitting our planning application.”
“Our priority was to understand what local people need from a new neighbourhood, so that our proposal delivers maximum benefit to the community in terms of new homes and facilities. Our aim is to create a sense of place that local people can be proud of. This site has the potential to deliver much-needed new homes to a well-connected, popular and attractive area.”
“We ensured that the site's green credentials were as good as they could possibly be and we are delighted that it is on track to receive a Building with Nature Design accreditation.”
Building with Nature (BwN) is a voluntary set of standards that provide an industry benchmark to go beyond the statutory requirements to deliver more for people and wildlife.
