Ed Monaghan wins Recognition Award at The Herald Family Business Awards
We’re delighted to announce that Ed Monaghan, who recently retired as our CEO, won the Recognition Award at The Herald Family Business Awards last night.
Ed joined Mactaggart & Mickel in 1981 aged 16 as an apprentice painter. In a career spanning over 40 years, he progressed to take on the roles of Commercial Manager, General Manager and Managing Director before being appointed as CEO in 2008. During this time, Ed has demonstrated his significant understanding of what is required to be an effective leader of a family business. He leaves a lasting legacy as the Group, now in its fourth generation, approaches its second century as a family-owned business.
As an effective and strategic leader, Ed has been a true embodiment of the family values that are at the heart of Mactaggart & Mickel. He embedded this culture with colleagues across all levels of the business. His mantra, that good business is always about people and relationships, has been essential in creating a culture that has propelled Mactaggart & Mickel to become renowned as the employer of choice in its industry.
